Long Live Lafayette

Originally suggested by Karla Hernandez during her interview for the project.. on May 15th, 2024 was a large-scale Lafayette reunion through a joint music concert with Lafayette Alumni, Chopin Elementary (the continued legacy of the music program) and the current ChiArts orchestra. Sharing the stage, Mr. Weible conducted students in the ChiArts/Lafayette auditorium for the first time since 2013 along with the shared lead of Mr. Ritchie (ChiArts Orchestra teacher). The interlude of each song featured a different speaker from Lafayette (as seen in the program below) to root the event in healing, perspective-taking, honest history and storytelling between intersecting communities.
